Introducing Dried Blood Spot Analysis, BYHEALTH Ascends to a New Height on Precision Nutrition

The “Precision Nutrition China Summit 2020” was convened in Shanghai from November 16 to 17. Experts in nutrition, medical and health industry were summoned together to make beneficial explorations on pooling wisdom, consolidating resources, and innovating for better leveraging the core role of nutrition science in promoting health awareness, and preventing and treating diseases in the post-epidemic era.

     The summit has centered around “precision nutrition”, with focused on five topics including “outlook of the application of precision nutrition”, “precise assessment and diagnosis technology”, “precise intervention and personalized management technology”, “database, algorithm model and precise prediction” and “commercialization of precision nutrition related products and technologies”, where attending guests had in-depth communication and discussion. Scientists and entrepreneurs exchanged opinions extensively on "new challenges, new thinking, new goals and new paths of precision nutrition research and application"; communicated the needs of each side, and explored new cooperation models for the implementation of precision nutrition technology. In addition, the White Paper on Precision Nutrition 2020 (V1.0) compiled by the Precision Nutrition Alliance: Research & Application was released on the summit. The Alliance was initiated by Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health, BYHEALTH, BASF, Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), DuPont Nutrition & Biosesciences, and Shuzheng Consulting Group.

Dried Blood Spot Analysis: Pioneering Global Nutrition Analytical Upgrade with Science and Technology

At the Summit, BYHEALTH, the global leading vitamin and dietary supplement company, shared its achievements in scientific research, transformation, and application relating to precision nutrition, and introduced new approaches and new models for industrial research and development. Dried blood spot analysis is a simple, convenient, and accurate analytical method using filter paper as the carrier of blood samples (or other biological samples) and can be applied with a variety of back-end test equipment, which is one of the technical supports for the development of precision nutrition.

Currently, BYHEALTH has independently developed and built the first fully automatic dried blood spot analysis center in China. The center has applied for patent protection for two technological research and development achievements. With just one drop of blood from the fingertip, this dried blood spot analysis-based solution can detect 9 vitamins, 5 minerals and 3 heavy metals.

Besides, through in-depth cooperation, BYHEALTH has set up databases, evalsuation systems, and models to research the tests of vitamin, mineral and minor elements via dried blood spot. Among such cooperation, it has joined hands with Zhuhai People’s Hospital to launch a pilot project on testing minor elements  via Dried Blood Spot Analysis for the senior Chinese.
